Marguerite Brown has almost 20 years of experience in litigating and providing counsel in insurance coverage matters and related
litigation, including coverage opinions, declaratory relief and contribution actions and insurance bad faith defense.
At Haight, Brown & Bonesteel, Marguerite became a partner in a department of 20 25 attorneys specializing in insurance-related
issues, including coverage opinions, reservations of rights, prosecuting and defending declaratory relief actions and defending
insurance bad faith cases. She later became of counsel at Lord, Bissell & Brook, specializing in representing London market
insurers in environmental and construction-related insurance coverage litigation.
Marguerite is the co-author of several publications in the insurance
field, has been a regular contributor to insurance-related journals
and has given numerous lectures on insurance issues, including coverage
for property damage/construction litigation, contribution between
insurers and issues related to punitive damages. She also has a
number of published and unpublished appellate decisions, including
Truck Exchange v. Unigard Insurance Co., the lead California
case governing notice requirements for contribution between insurers.
Marguerite received her B.A. in Economics from California State University, Long Beach, graduating with distinction, Phi Beta Kappa
and Phi Kappa Phi. She received her J.D. from Willamette University College of Law, where she was an editor on the Law Review and a
member of the Moot Court Board. She was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1982 (now inactive) and the California State Bar in
1983. |
