| John J. Stumreiter is a civil litigator
with more than 29 years of experience in all phases of business
litigation, including insurance coverage and bad faith litigation
(both plaintiff and defense, and including earthquake litigation),
legal malpractice and malicious prosecution (both plaintiff and
defense), appeals, real estate, employment disputes, securities
fraud, antitrust, general commercial litigation, medical malpractice
(plaintiff), entertainment, merchandising, and bankruptcy (including
representation of creditors and other non?debtor parties). He has
tried several cases and has litigated class action and other representative
lawsuits in both plaintiff and defense capacities.
Mr. Stumreiter’s reported cases include: Robbin
v. Fluor Corp., 835 F.2d 213 (9th Cir. 1987); Waller v.
Financial Corp. of America, 828 F.2d 579 (9th Cir. 1987); Wm.
Boyd Ent. v. Fireman's Fund, 2 Cal. Rptr. 2d 548 (2d Dist.
1991) (not officially published; petition for review granted); Landscape
Specialties v. Laborers Int'l Union, 477 F. Supp. 17 (C.D.Cal.
1979).
Prior to coming to Brown, Brown & Klass, Mr. Stumreiter
was a partner with Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman and an associate of
Kindel & Anderson. He served as a law clerk to Hon. Malcolm M. Lucas
in the United States District Court. He has also served as a panelist
for a C.E.B. program on Civil Procedure During Trial and has served
as an arbitrator for the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mr. Stumreiter
received a B.A. degree with honors in 1967 from Yale University.
He received his J.D. degree with honors in 1972 and an LL.M. degree
in 1973, both from Harvard Law School. He served in the United States
Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970. |
